so -- this post may make you distrust my ability to critique film. if true, i have three words for you. bite it, bitches. this isn't a critique but an appreciation.
i recently saw 'Just Friends', the movie starring ryan reynolds and amy smart. it depicts a friendship between a guy and girl -- the guy, predictably, wanting a romantic relationship and the girl, equally predictably, seeing him only as a friend.
loved it. laughed my ass off.
for the record, i think ryan reynolds had generally been a crap actor. nothing he's done has been worth much. i don't have that much higher opinion of amy smart, either. i think generally they are the kinds of actors who make a lot of money making dumb teeny films that draw dumb teenies.
JF is different, however, and i find myself harboring high expectations of reynolds now. he did a terrific job in this movie -- it's definitely a movie and not a film; i'm not that bad a critic -- both as a physical comedian and as a more conventional comic actor in which delivery is everything. his mannerisms were fresh, much more so than in any other film he's done. perhaps being married to a fairly original and very smart fellow canadian has helped his craft.
"this is a good movie." don't question it.

I'm just questioning that you even watched that movie, you girl.
You write a 220 word "appreciation" on Ryan Reynolds: Thespian, and then you expect us to take you seriously on politics and the academy? That's funny. You girl.
I'm impressed with your site, very nice graphics!
