functional essay on what is, from all accounts, a smart and provocative play about the death of an american girl who dared to question israel's policy on property destruction. israel of course is in the business of destroying the homes and lives of relatives of suicide bombers -- who i have no problem calling despicable terrorists -- simply for being related and, at some point in the terrorists lives, providing 'aid and comfort.' you know, the aid and comfort of parenting and shit.
read the essay -- the play was scrapped originally because it was thought to criticize israel in an unreflective way. complete bullocks of course. the play isn't driven by anti-semitism -- the same as any thoughtful critique of israeli governmental policy (i wonder, is it anti-semitic to criticize the president of israel for his coming indictment for rape and assault? hitchens, what say you, you fat drunk pig?).
it's funny how knee-jerk conservatives in this country would scream bloody hell if their property were destroyed for having murderous kin. but hey, so long as israel uses caterpillar brand bulldozers to do it, who really cares, right?
