Big M or little h?

murtha or hoyer for the house democratic leadership position?

tough one.

murtha, obviously, has street cred. fought in vietnam. can attract a lot of support from the heartland, regular joe types.

hoyer is a liberal in a literal sense of the word. pro-trade (almost to the point of shunning fair trade, which gives me pause), pro-gay, pro-education, etc.

i dunno who would lead the democrats to where they truly want to be. murtha is good, it seems, insofar as the dems want to lead the country during a time of war and deep concern about the perils of globalization. hoyer might be better for growing the party over the long term and keeping the socially liberal but fiscally moderate folks in our camp for the foreseeable future.

what say you, lonely reader?

i vote hoyer.

murtha seems to be an ear-mark whore, and while i think it would be useful for dems to let a strong veteran be the face we display in the near future, hoyer has the right ideas about growing the party.

keep in mind i'm still a liberal's liberal. as in, viva canada. but i also love crushing convservative folk like the regressive bastards they are.
